Developing midwifery responses to women in their care who are living with violent menIt is suggested that one in four women will experience domestic violence sometime in their life and that pregnancy can be a trigger for this violence, resulting in morbidity for both mother and child. Mary Steen describes a project in Leeds set up to train midwives to be more aware of possible domestic violence in their clients and how to support those who are suffering from it.
