The Department of Social Studies and Counselling provides a dynamic learning environment for approximately 900 undergraduate and postgraduate students registered for its taught undergraduate and postgraduate degree programmes.
The Department was established in 1980 offers courses in Applied Social Science, Communication Studies, Counselling Skills, and Criminology aty undergraduate level and Counselling, Crime and Justice (subject to validation), and Psychological Trauma at postgraduatre level.
The Department has a multidisciplinary team of highly skilled and research active academics who create a stimulating and welcoming environment for students. There is a resource room, with computer facilities and equipment for student use in the Department, and it is situated close to the main campus where teaching activities, the University library and more extensive computing facilities are located.
