The Staff Conference is an annual event, usually at the end of May, involving key speakers and workshops on a theme related to the enhancement of academic and practice in learning, teaching and assessment. Previous staff conferences have taken the themes of Evaluation and Innovation; Assessment; and Evidence-Based Practice. Key speakers are usually national figures, drawn from external institutions or organisations, including the Higher Education Academy. As part of the process of the conference, departments also spend time considering the implications for, and starting to update, their learning, teaching and assessment strategies for the following academic year.
