Chester Centre for Stress Research (CCSR) is an interdisciplinary grouping linking the research interests of School of Science and Health, Faculty of Health an Social Care and a number of external bodies. It therefore incorporates the work of several departments including Biological Sciences, Sport and Exercise Sciences, Psychology, and Social and Communication Studies.
The CCSR coordinates Health related research across the University of Chester and a number of external bodies. The aim of CCSR is to stimulate interdisciplinary research and perform research of international significance through the utilisation of regional excellence. CCSR currently has over 30 research active staff, 9 research assistants, 31 research students, 4 visiting professors and 2 visiting research fellows.
External members come from Local and Regional Health Authorities, Chester Zoo and Local Industry. The overall focus of the CCSR is on all aspects of stress analysed at biological, psychological and social levels.
CCSR is organised along two main research themes: Stress Biology Group and The Public Health Group.
